A QUIET BLADE OF LIGHT - ADVENT HOPE
Lord, I breathe in your nearness.
I feel the dark around me.
I do not run.
I let the night be what it is.
I honor the small flame you have placed within me.
I listen for your whisper
moving at the edges of my life,
soft as wind in winter branches.
In this waiting,
teach me that hope is rebellion,
a holy defiance,
a quiet blade of light
against all that seeks to undo me.
Let my heart remember
the Child who came hidden,
choosing weakness,
choosing this world,
choosing me.
Give me the grace to watch.
The grace to long.
The grace to trust
that dawn is already rising.
I hold my life before you now.
My wounds.
My weary hope.
My deepest desires.
Come to me again,
O Christ.
A glimmer.
A promise.
A King who steps into the dark
and names me his own.
Amen.
